The Details
Most of our meetings were held via conference calls. We have members of the board located from St. George all the way up to Logan. Besides our conventions, we only met in person one other time, and it was for a social pizza night and to prep items for the convention the next day. I was amazed at how well we could all work as a team without ever meeting in person before.

Setting and promoting a group goal for fundraising was a huge push for me. I wanted to maximize our members experiences at our state convention, and we were able to reach out to 16 exhibitors and sponsors and have them financially support our convention. I promoted convention preregistration sales until I was blue in the face, and we had a much larger turnout that expected, and even broke records from previous years.

Planning group flights and hotel reservations to attend the national convention was a beast in itself. There are too many options for travel, and I wanted to ensure that we were getting the best bang for our buck, without sacrificing scheduling or experience of our members. I successfully have booked this years trip for our entire board to attend the national convention in Nashville, Tennessee.
Starting off in a Treasurer's position was quite an adjustment. I've never had to be so detailed with finances and budgeting, and I learned valuable lessons to apply to my personal life along the way. Each paragraph below lists some of the details of my duties.

Monthly financial reporting was a requirement to keep our association in constituency status with the national association. I would analyze all credits and debits for the month, and make sure that each transaction was authorized and expected. During my first year, I saw a yearly running budget of close to $14,000.

Proposing fundraising, pricing of registration, budgeting for trips and planing our own events was also my department. Other members were encouraged to purpose their own ideas, but I was often consulted to ensure the idea was financially sound. We did not receive any negative feedback from members on spending.

Creating an electronic marketplace for UtSNA members to register and pay for convention was also a big project I completed. I assisted in creating a brand new website (which can be found here) and managed the commerce section of it. We also pressed graduation cords, t-shirts, and accepted payment for exhibitors and sponsors through this platform.
THERE WERE A COUPLE PHOTO OPS...
Scroll through some pictures to the right to see a little bit of my adventures from traveling to conventions with the UtSNA Board of Directors. The two major events featured are the National Student Nurses' Association convention held in Dallas, Texas in April of 2017 and the Utah Student Nurses' Association convention held at BYU in Provo, Utah in February of 2018. Since the members of the board are located all over the state, most of our meeting were held via conference calls.

Our state convention brought over 300 nursing students learning in Utah together for a fun day of exploring career opportunities and getting a taste of what being part of a professional organization is like.
